A "kind of break" in a charge refers to a point or condition where the cost structure changes-due to quantity, weight, volume. It's not the charge itself, but a threshold or transition that affects how the charge is calculated or applied.
Common charge breaks that are being used in the rating tool are:
Type of break | What changes | Why it matters |
Base | A new pricing tier | It determines the fixed pricing tier |
Flat | A fixed price up to the limit | It defines which fixed pricing tier applies based on the kind of unit |
Greater or Equal to | Increases the price once a defined threshold is reached | It determines when the lower rate or new pricing tiers starts. |
Less than | Decreases the price once a defined threshold is reached | It determines where the pricing tiers ends. |
Maximum | A tiered structure where lower rates apply only below a defined upper limit. | It determines the upper limit of the pricing tier |
Minimum | A tiered structure where higher rates apply only up to a defined lower limit. | It determines the lower limit of the pricing tier |
Range | A tiered structure where the price is applied on specific ranges of weight, volume, or quantity | It defines the start and end points of a pricing tier |
